Of course! It’s a crummy thing to do, and in most other lines of work potential clients wouldn’t dream of doing it. Unfortunately there is a tendency for some clients to treat sex workers like we’re not actually working and therefore don’t deserve the same courtesy you’d give any other business.

For most of the time I’ve been doing this job, I’ve found that around 25% of clients either cancel or don’t show - maybe because they lose their nerve, maybe because it really hit them how much money they’d be spending, maybe because they genuinely double-booked, maybe because they’re just rude. No-shows I immediately blacklist unless they have a REALLY good reason (like being hit by a bus on their way here). Late cancellations I give one chance to, and if they do it again I blacklist them. I don’t have enough time to be spending it on people who don’t show.

25% being cancellations or no-shows has been pretty much stable across the board for the years I’ve been working, and other workers I know say it’s fairly accurate for their jobs too, though there are some differences - regulars tend to cancel less often than one-offs; high-end clients cancel less often than lower spenders; clients who have been vetted beforehand cancel less often than those who haven’t.

BUT, recently - I’d say the last few months - the problem has become a LOT worse. 9 out of my last 10 clients have either cancelled or not shown up, and the tenth called the day before to reschedule. Other girls I know have been experiencing the same thing. I don’t know if it’s the weather or the economy or that the removal of Backpage and Craigslist personals has punters spooked (even in places like the UK where sex work is legal), but it’s a big problem and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. Though I’ve been getting tons more booking requests this week, so fingers crossed.
